All
ladders shall be submitted and approved prior to fabrication
showing; full dimensions, wall and floor attachments, materials,
construction and finish. All ladders must comply with all safety
ordinances pertinent to installation. Materials shall be electrolysis
and maintenance free aluminum or #302 stainless steel. Ladders
shall be "SURE STEP" Model CG-RH, Cage Hatch Ladder, with "Lift-up
rail extensions". Side rails shall lift up and lock 42" (1066.8mm)
above the top step of the ladder for safe roof egress and ingress
and retract into the ladder frame with roof hatch closed. "Lift-up
side rails" are an exclusive integral component of the ladder,
as manufactured by Royalite Manufacturing Inc., 1055 Terminal
Way, San Carlos, CA 94070-3226, (800) 875-9548.
Steps
shall be 2" x 1" (50.8 x 25.4mm) in section by 24" (609.6mm)
long, extruded from 6063-T5 aluminum, serrated on the top surface,
smooth and rounded on the sides and bottom. Steps shall carry
a 1200# (544.31 kg) load without failing.
Heavy-duty
side rails shall be extruded from 6063-T5 aluminum, no less
than .125" (3.175mm) wall thickness by 4" (101.6mm) wide. Rails
shall be rounded on the corners and protected on the exterior
to prevent tampering or vandalism of the step fasteners. Slide
rails shall be constructed using 302 stainless steel self locking
fasteners, full penetration inert gas heliarc welds, ground
smooth and burr free.
Lift-up
rail extensions shall be made of 6063-T5 extruded aluminum,
extend and lock 42" (1066.8mm) above the top step, then retract
into the heavy duty side rails by releasing the latch mechanism
located near the top of the side rails.
Cage
Hoops shall be made of 6063-T5 extruded aluminum. Hoops
shall be 3/16" x 2" (4.76mm x 50.8mm) solid bar stock, with
a radius of 14" (355.6mm). The bottom hoop shall have a radius
of 18" (457.2mm). Vertical bars of same material shall be less
than 10" (254.0) apart to prevent access to the ladder through
the cage. The bottom hoop of the cage shall be a minimum of
96" (2438.4mm) from the ground floor.
Finish
shall be mill finish or UV protected polyurethane in manufacturers'
standard color or OSHA safety yellow color as specified by the
architect. Finish to be applied over a chromatized surface pretreatment.
